To start off, I really wanted to like this shirt. I'm very particular with the clothes I wear and try to support local and Canadian brands as much as possible. I've bought MTNHEAD clothes in the past and have been really impressed - especially with the thicker t-shirts - as they have been some of the highest quality shirts I've worn.
This t-shirt is different than what I've experienced in the past from MTNHEAD. When I first opened my package, I was a bit taken back with how thin the material was, and immediately had some concern with how it would wash. I also noticed that the material was so thin that the fabric used to sew the front patch on was clearly visible. Regardless, I liked the look of the shirt (generally speaking).
I always wash my clothes on delicate and never use the dryer; all of my clothes hang dry. After the first wash, I noticed that the side seams started to twist - which is honestly something I've only seen in lower quality shirts after being in the dryer. The shirt was also absurdly wrinkly and the collar was bent out of shape. However, I wore it that day as an undershirt so I didn't really mind.
After the second wash, the seams started to break, and part of the thread started to hang. My t-shirts typically last me a long time, probably around 5-10 years and I haven't experienced this before.
All in all, I'm pretty disappointed with this purchase and wouldn't buy it again. It's extra disappointing because I like the other clothes from MTNHEAD quite a lot. This shirt feels too cheaply made and based on it starting to fall a part after 2 gentle washes, I don't think it's well made either. If anyone from MTNHEAD reads this, I highly recommend making this shirt thicker - it doesn't have to be as thick as the thick shirts you typically sell, but there has to be a happy medium.
Again, I really want to support this company and overall like my experience with MTNHEAD, but I won't be buying another shirt like this unless there are some major changes to how it's made. I've attached a picture that shows 3 issues - how wrinkly it gets after a wash, the seam has shifted to the front of the shirt, and the thread has started to come undone. Thanks for reading.
Great quality cotton so it actually last and the embroidery is so cute!!
Absolutely love this tee. Super soft cotton and divine maroon color. Fit perfectly. Great addition to other tees I have from Muttonhead.
